Information You Submit
Terms Entered in Search Tools
A name, place, or other query entered into a search box is sent to the third-party provider that operates that search service. Scott County Released Inmates does not store or log those search terms on its own systems. The provider may receive the query and related technical data under its separate privacy terms. Review those terms before submitting information that you do not want handled by an outside service.
Emails and Contact Messages
When you send an email or use a contact form, we retain the message and the contact details you provide long enough to review and answer it. A message is not shared outside the organization unless disclosure is legally required. Do not send Social Security numbers, account credentials, notification PINs, or other sensitive identifiers. This private site cannot receive a formal records request on behalf of SWVRJA, VADOC, a court, BOP, or ICE.
Information Collected Automatically
Ordinary web-server and analytics functions may collect technical details when a page loads. This data helps operate the site, understand general traffic, and diagnose faults. The automatically collected items may include:
- Your Internet Protocol address;
- Browser name and version;
- Device category and operating system;
- Pages viewed and time spent on them;
- The referring site, when one is supplied; and
- The date and time of the visit.
Cookie Use
Cookies and similar browser storage can help measure how visitors move through the site and support site functions. You may block or remove cookies through browser settings. Some features or partner services may then work differently. Advertising and analytics providers may place or read their own cookies under their policies.
How Information Is Used
The information described above is used for defined operational purposes. It is not treated as an official Scott County, SWVRJA, or Virginia corrections record.
- Operate the site and maintain reasonable loading performance;
- Send search requests to the partner service selected by the visitor;
- Measure which pages and topics visitors find useful;
- Detect, investigate, and correct technical problems; and
- Present advertising that may relate to a visitor's interests.
Privacy Beyond This Website
Links lead to SWVRJA and Scott County records resources, Virginia Department of Corrections pages, parole and probation information, federal and immigration locators, court portals, and third-party search services. Once you follow a link or submit a partner search, the destination's privacy policy governs its collection and use. Scott County Released Inmates does not control those practices.
Access to Virginia public records may be governed by Virginia FOIA § 2.2-3704 and the law-enforcement and corrections provisions in § 2.2-3706. Those access laws do not replace a destination's privacy policy. Advertising partners may also track activity across websites on their own systems to select ads.
Parties That May Receive Data
We do not sell personal information. Limited information may be transmitted or disclosed to service providers and authorities in the circumstances listed here:
- Search partners that process a query submitted to their tools;
- Analytics providers that measure visits and performance;
- Advertising networks that deliver and assess ads; and
- Law-enforcement agencies or other government bodies when a valid legal order requires disclosure.
Reasonable Security Measures
Standard administrative and technical practices are used to protect information under our control. No website, network, transmission method, or storage system can be promised as fully secure. We therefore cannot guarantee that information will never be intercepted, lost, altered, or accessed without authorization. Limit what you send and use an agency's official secure process for sensitive records matters.
Visitors Younger Than 18
This site is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If a parent or guardian believes that a minor submitted personal information directly to us, use the Contact Us page to request review and deletion. We will address a supported request within the limits of data under our control.
Your Privacy Choices
Subject to applicable law and our ability to verify the request, you may exercise the following choices for personal data held directly by Scott County Released Inmates:
- Ask for a copy of information associated with you;
- Request correction of inaccurate personal information;
- Ask that eligible information be erased; and
- Opt out of certain processing where that choice applies.
These choices do not remove government records or information held by SWVRJA, VADOC, a court, a search partner, or another outside operator. Contact the record custodian or service provider directly for data it controls.

This Privacy Notice may be revised as site practices, services, or legal requirements change. A revised notice takes effect when it is posted here, with an updated effective date when appropriate. Reviewing this page from time to time is the best way to see the current version.
