Purpose of This Resource

This is a private reference site. It is not connected to Scott County government, the Southwest Virginia Regional Jail Authority, the Virginia Department of Corrections, the Virginia Parole Board, BOP, ICE, or any court. It stores no official jail, release, inmate, supervision, or court records. Staff cannot confirm custody, cause a release, file a court document, or act on an agency's behalf.

The site's function is to point visitors toward official Scott County and Virginia resources and to connect users with outside research tools. Virginia public-record access may be governed by Virginia FOIA § 2.2-3704 and § 2.2-3706. Those laws apply through the responsible public body, not through this private site.

Acceptable Use Rules

Use the site and any information reached through it lawfully and without harming other people, the service, or connected systems. You agree that you will not:

• Violate a local, state, federal, or other applicable law;
• Use information to stalk, harass, threaten, or intimidate anyone;
• Base hiring, housing, lending, or insurance decisions on site content;
• Attempt access to accounts, servers, or data without authorization;
• Operate bots, scrapers, or automated collection tools against the site; or
• Interfere with access, security, performance, or use by other visitors.

No Consumer Reporting Services

Scott County Released Inmates is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act. It does not create or supply background checks, credit reports, or consumer reports. Advertising and search partners shown through the site do not provide screening services on this site's behalf. By using the site, you agree not to use information obtained here for:

• Hiring, firing, promotion, or other employment decisions;
• Tenant selection, housing approval, or lease decisions;
• Creditworthiness, lending, or insurance pricing;
• Licensing, permits, or government-program eligibility; or
• Any other purpose regulated by the FCRA.

Links and Outside Services

Links may lead to SWVRJA release-record resources, Scott County and Virginia courts, corrections and supervision agencies, federal locators, legal-aid resources, and third-party search services. A link is provided for navigation and is not an endorsement. Scott County Released Inmates does not control an outside service's content, privacy practices, data handling, fees, terms, or uptime. Read the destination's current terms before using it.

Service Provided As Is

The site, its text, and its functions are provided “as is” and “as available.” To the fullest extent permitted by law, no express or implied warranty is made concerning:

• The accuracy, completeness, or currentness of any information;
• Continuous or uninterrupted availability;
• Freedom from errors, defects, harmful code, or security weaknesses; or
• The scope or completeness of results returned by a partner service.

Custody status, release data, court entries, contact details, and public records can change quickly. Nothing on the site is an official statement from a sheriff, SWVRJA, VADOC, a court, or any other government agency. Confirm material facts with the office that created the record.

Limits on Liability

To the fullest extent allowed by applicable law, Scott County Released Inmates and its owners, operators, contributors, and service providers will not be liable for direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, special, exemplary, or punitive damages arising from access to, inability to access, or use of the site or linked services. This limit applies regardless of the theory asserted and even when the possibility of loss was known.

Your Duty to Indemnify

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Scott County Released Inmates, its owners, operators, contributors, and service providers from claims, losses, liabilities, judgments, costs, and reasonable legal fees arising from your use of the site, your misuse of information, or your breach of these Terms & Conditions.

Ownership of Site Materials

Unless another owner is identified, the original text, graphics, logos, layout, and code on this site belong to Scott County Released Inmates or its content partners and are protected by applicable intellectual-property law. You may not copy, republish, distribute, sell, alter, or create derivative works from those materials without prior written permission. Rights in linked government and third-party materials remain with their owners.

Revisions to These Terms

These Terms & Conditions may be revised at any time. The updated language becomes effective when it is posted on this page. Continued use after posting means that you accept the revised terms, so check the current version when your use depends on a particular condition.

Restriction or Loss of Access

We may limit, suspend, or end access to all or part of the site at any time, for any reason, and without advance notice. This authority includes action taken to protect the site, its users, service providers, or legal rights. Ending access does not waive obligations that by their nature continue after termination.

Virginia Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute concerning these terms or use of the site must be filed in a court with proper jurisdiction in Virginia, subject to any law that requires a different forum.

If One Term Is Invalid

If a court finds any provision invalid, unlawful, or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in effect. The affected provision will be limited or adjusted only as much as necessary to make it enforceable while preserving its intended purpose as closely as the law permits.
